A Chronic Illness Success Story

Medical condition caused by prescribed medications?

Elizabeth, 80 years young, is a physically fit for age lady who, like many women her genre, takes a few pharmaceutical medications for chronic conditions that would otherwise impair their lifestyle

In May 2024, Elizabeth joined my Turning Point Plan, a navigated support & advisory program for those with Chronic Health Conditions; not cancer related.

She sought my assistance through a referral from a friend Since then, we have left no stone unturned; methodically going through causative factors.

Grace Comments: With clients like Elizabeth, I utilised my old-style naturopathic training, forensically working through causative possibilities, searching for clues as to the root cause of her bladder dysfunction issues.

All essential diagnostics were performed through the conventional medicine system. MRIs of brain, spine, bladder, physiotherapist investigation were all actioned.

She consulted many GPs and underwent Medical specialists checks for bladder cancer – she was all clear, however her bladder dysfunction continued.

We explored psychological issues, physical trauma, and given long periods spent in northern India, we checked for bladder parasites.

A part of my leaving no stone unturned approach is to recommend a Genomic test called Pharmacogenomics or drug sensitivity profile.

Results confirmed:

The culprit revealed, a sleep medication that Elizabeth had been prescribed and taken for decades had been responsible for damage to her bladder function.

Solution: With the medication now discontinued and replaced with a similar drug that won’t affect bladder function, we await the long-term outcome, hoping that with therapeutic interventions that normal bladder function can be restored.

Grace Continues: The Take-Away Information from this case report is for patients to leave no stone unturned when searching for a diagnosis

Be aware that even prescribed medical pharmaceuticals can have short and long-term side effects.

Discuss side effects with prescribing doctors – alert them to prescribed meds including those prescribed by other medical practitioners.

Wrong combinations of pharmaceuticals can cause Iatrogenic disease.

Contact Grace for more information about Pharmacogenomic testing. A simple mouth swab and genomic an analysis could prove lifesaving.
