Breast Cancer Survivorship with Grace Gawler
I pioneered Australia’s first breast cancer support groups. A breast cancer survivor, I coach in the art of survivorship, using a best of both worlds approach; old school naturopathy integrateed with modern science.
I offer a unique service bridging the gaps between supportive care medicine and hi-tech minimally invasive treatments.
I offer assistance to patients with all types of breast cancer including those that are difficult to treat such as triple negative breast cancer
With almost 50 years experience helping patients to navigate the cancer maze, I offer a broad landscape of options and possibilities that can value-add to your Survivorship.
I have walked in the shoes of both caregiver and patient
Almost half a century of dedicated services for Breast Cancer Patients
Grace says – At 21 years of age during the 1970’s, I became sole caregiver to an amputee cancer patient deemed palliative in a time when cancer support systems were non-existent. This is the reason why I founded support groups for women with breast cancer during the 1980s.
In 1994, based on the life stories of women who had attended my residential programs and workshops, I authored the first book and best seller, Women of Silence the emotional healing of breast cancer. (1994, 2001)
My patient advocacy in Australia & New Zealand saw me receiving the inaugural Rotary International Jean Harris Award for services towards advancing the role of women in society; the highest honour Rotary bestows on a non-Rotarian.
A survivor of 28 surgeries since 1997, including colon and 4 breast cancer surgeries (mastectomy) I understand the multiple issues surrounding a diagnosis of breast cancer.
I have walked in the shoes of both caregiver and patient.
Consequently; I have developed a unique approach to breast cancer survivorship. I invite you to explore my Survivorship Action Plans

Women of Silence
Women of Silence, gentle and strong,
Tell me your path, where it first went wrong.
Tell me your story, how you’ve coped with your life
Tell me about all the trouble and the strife.
I see how you’ve coped withholding the pain,
I feel your soul weeping and yet you refrain
From sharing your losses, your grief and your fears
But you know, they multiply over the years.
Until one day your inner wisdom says “no more.”
And you awake with an illness, a fiery core
That’s fuelled by a lifestyle out of control,
Too much held too often has taken its toll.
It’s time to rethink, reassess how it’s been
And develop a strategy previously unseen.
There is a way to heal with heart and great passion.
Let go of withholding- that was always your fashion.
Nurture yourself and make yourself whole.
Live your life fully and realize your goals.
Women of Silence, gentle and strong,
Find the courage to heal, and to sing your heart’s song.
